Terms and Conditions – Canine Treasures

By purchasing a puppy from Canine Treasures, the Buyer agrees to the following terms and conditions.

1. Deposits and Pricing

  • A 10% deposit is required to reserve a puppy and mark it as sold.

  • This deposit is deducted from the final adoption price due at pickup, unless transportation is arranged.

  • Failure to pay the 10% deposit may result in the puppy being sold to another buyer.

  • The adoption price listed on the Purchase Agreement is final.

  • Deposits and payments are non-refundable except in the event of death or illness while in the Seller’s care. In such a case, funds may be refunded or applied toward another puppy, at Buyer’s choice.

  • Adoption costs are separate from transportation fees.

  • Processing fees from money transfers must be reimbursed by the Buyer at the time of final payment.

  • Final payment is due at pickup. If transportation is arranged, half is due when the puppy leaves the Seller, and the remainder is due upon delivery.

2. Health and Vaccinations

  • Puppies are guaranteed to be in good health and up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations and deworming at the time of sale.

  • The Seller is not responsible for veterinary bills incurred after the puppy leaves our care.

  • Canine Treasures recommends:

    • Rabies vaccine after 12 weeks of age

    • Yearly vaccinations kept up-to-date

    • Monthly deworming

    • Premium quality dog food

  • The Seller is not responsible for costs related to:

    • Routine veterinary care, flea/heartworm prevention, special diets, grooming, or supplements

    • Any veterinary fees unless required by state law

3. Pickup and Transportation

  • Puppies cannot be picked up before 8 weeks of age.

  • Pickup or transportation must be arranged within 1 week of adoption or deposit payment.

  • Extended stays require an Extended Care Policy (ECP) agreement and may incur additional boarding costs.

  • Transportation fees are separate from adoption and deposit costs.

  • Buyer may be required to sign a Transportation Request Form.

  • Stress-related illnesses from travel (e.g., pneumonia, diarrhea, hypoglycemia) are the Buyer’s responsibility.

4. Veterinary Exam Requirement

  • Buyer must take the puppy to a veterinarian for a wellness/baseline exam within 72 hours of pickup or delivery.

  • Failure to do so voids the Seller’s 12-month health guarantee.

5. Health Guarantee

  • If within 72 hours the puppy is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness, contagious, or infectious disease, the Buyer may:

    1. Return the puppy for a full refund, or

    2. Receive reimbursement for reasonable documented veterinary expenses, up to the original adoption price.

  • Within 12 months, if two licensed DVMs diagnose a hereditary or congenital disorder impacting quality of life (and not a breed-specific trait), the Buyer may receive:

    • A replacement puppy of equivalent value, or

    • Reimbursement for documented treatment costs up to the adoption price

  • Written veterinarian report must be provided within 5 days of diagnosis, prior to treatment.

6. Conditions Not Covered

The guarantee does not cover:

  • Non-life-threatening conditions (e.g., localized mange, hernias, mild heart murmurs, luxating patellas grade 1–2, cherry eye, bite issues, undescended testicles)

  • Injuries or illness due to neglect or preventable acts (e.g., foreign object ingestion, car accidents, bug bites)

  • Elective/cosmetic procedures (e.g., tail docking, ear cropping, declawing, teeth cleaning)

  • Behavioral issues, training, or therapy costs

  • Variations from breed standards (size, weight, appearance)

  • Genetic testing, cancer, coronavirus, x-rays

7. Returning a Puppy

  • No offspring of Canine Treasures may end up in a shelter or long-term third-party care.

  • If Buyer cannot keep the puppy within 12 months, it must be returned to the Seller. No refund will be issued.

8. Spay/Neuter Agreement

  • Puppies are sold as family pets only with no breeding rights.

  • Buyer agrees to spay/neuter the puppy between 6 and 12 months of age.

  • Proof of procedure must be provided to the Seller.

  • If Buyer does not spay/neuter by this age, written documentation from a DVM stating a medical reason must be provided.

  • Failure to comply may require:

    • Returning the puppy to the Seller at Buyer’s expense, or

    • Paying full breeding rights costs as determined by the Seller

If you want, I can also format this into a ready-to-sign contract layout with spaces for buyer and seller information, signatures, and dates so it’s legally clean and professional.
Do you want me to prepare it that way next?
